This is it -- the train is leaving the station! Registration for the NCFDD's Faculty Success Program (May to August 2014) ENDS this Friday. As we head toward the registration deadline, consider this a gentle nudge for those of you who:

  • Know you want to join the program but can't quite commit to anything until the last minute,
  • Wanted to explore all of your options for writing support and accountability before registering, or
  • Told me you intend to register, but then forgot to go our site and push the button.

Every time we've offered this program, the last people to register have some of the biggest transformations. I don't know why that's the case. It could be because they took their time in deciding to make the commitment so once they finally made it, they were all in. It could be because they had to hustle around their institution to find the professional development funds to participate and in so doing became highly motivated to make the most of the program (for themselves and their institutional sponsors). Or it could be that it took until the last minute to overcome their inner-critic's protests and in doing so, they started off in a powerful way! Whatever the case may be, let me encourage you to pause for a minute to ask yourself: Do you want to join a community that will transform the Summer into your most productive ever?

If so, it's time to register.  If not, no problem (but feel free to share this with anyone who may need it).

And if you want to see what someone just like you got out of our most recent Faculty Success Program, see Evangeline's story's below.  It's a better description of the program than anything I can tell you.

I'm wishing each of you a peaceful and productive end of spring semester!

What Faculty Are Saying About the Faculty Success Program:

"I knew that I felt better after participating in the summer Faculty Success Program, but the real proof came when I tallied my concrete project results and ran the numbers. Can I just say: Wow! 13,607 minutes of writing between May 19th and August 31, 2013. That translated into 1.5 articles newly written, 2 articles revised and resubmitted, and 1 article published. I also learned to let myself sleep 7.5+ hours per/night at least 5 nights/week and to take the weekends off. I did all of the above while juggling major life transitions, including starting a new job, moving to a new state, and balancing the practical and emotional aspects of having two parents undergoing treatment for late-stage cancers. I used to worry about when I would find several hours (or days!) of undisturbed time to write. Now I simply commit to writing 30-60 minutes, 5 days/week and I use accountability buddies to keep me on track and realistic about my goals. I am positive that the structure and support of the Faculty Success Program made it possible for me to be productive AND happy."
