It was such a tremendous pleasure to work with you at the 2014 Institute on Teaching and Mentoring! To follow up on our workshop, I have some information, additional resources, and a few gifts to use along in your academic journey.
Institute on Teaching and Mentoring
Solo success: how to thrive in graduate school when you're the only _________ in your department
Under-represented graduate students often report difficulty navigating the politics of academic departments and finding the kinds of mentors, sponsors, and collaborators that will lead to a Ph.D. and success in the academic job market. This session will clarify: 1) the three biggest mistakes in department politics, 2) the best strategies for earning a doctorate and getting an academic job, and 3) how to build the kind of broad mentoring network that will sustain you throughout your academic career. All attendees will receive a complimentary one-year membership to the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity.
A Few gifts for you!
GIFT #1: Cultivating a Network of Mentors, Sponsors, and Collaborators
For those of you who were unable to attend, I've included an audio and slides of one of our workshops describing our mentoring model. Feel free to share it with a friend.
GIFT #2: Free One Year NCFDD Individual Membership
As you know, every participant in the 2014 Institute on Teaching and Mentoring will receive an Individual Membership to the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (12 month mentorship that includes our signature tools, training, and online community). Please look out for our formal welcome email explaining how to set up your new membership and the benefits.
The workshop you experienced was an example of the types of workshops we offer each month to our individual and institutional members. Our monthly training and guest expert workshops are a benefit of NCFDD membership. Once your account is set up, feel free to register and review our Upcoming Tele-Workshops Calendar.
I greatly enjoyed working with you and am looking forward to hearing about all of your success.
