Membership Drive

Tomorrow is the last day of our 2015 Individual Membership Drive and I don't want you to miss this fantastic opportunity, so I thought I'd share a message I received a few weeks ago from one of our individual members reflecting on her experience with the NCFDD:

Tiffany Joseph, PhD
Assistant Professor
Stony Brook Stone University

"I owe much of my clarity about pursuing academia and my productivity as a junior scholar to you. I joined the NCFDD as an Individual Member when I started my postdoc at Harvard and have participated in various Webinars (Book Proposal, Academic Entrepreneurship, Every Semester Needs a Plan). I have thoroughly enjoyed the Monday Motivators and look forward to them every week after doing my 30 minute Sunday Meeting to figure out how to have my work goals meet my work calendar for the upcoming week. The strategies definitely work and I am so glad that you have been able to thrive in helping academics lead more productive and healthy professional and personal lives. Because of them, I was able to get a lot done during my postdoc: finish my book proposal and book manuscript from the dissertation project (now under review), get 3 more articles out and under review, have some publications that were in the pipeline come out recently, and finish data collection for a new research project. I was also able to do all of this, stay healthy, have a social life, and minimize working after 6pm on weekdays and on weekends. I am beginning my faculty position with a more defined research agenda, but also ready to teach…I will be renewing my NCFDD Individual Membership."

To be honest, I created the NCFDD so that lots of academics can have the experience Tiffany described: 1) access to the information that you need to succeed (but nobody ever tells you), 2) training in skills and strategies that really work, and 3) increased productivity and work-life balance.

If you've already got all of these things, congratulations! But if you're missing the kind of mentoring you want and need to truly thrive in the Academy, then I encourage you to consider becoming an NCFDD Individual Member today!
