Faculty Success Program

This is it -- the train is leaving the station!

Registration for the NCFDD's next session of the Faculty Success Program ENDS this Friday. As we head toward the registration deadline, consider this a gentle nudge for those of you who:

  • Know you want to join the program but can't quite commit to anything until the last minute
  • Wanted to explore all of your options for writing support and accountability before registering
  • Told me you intend to register, but then forgot to go our site and push the button

Every time we've offered this program, the last people to register have some of the biggest transformations. I don't know why that's the case. It could be because they took their time in deciding to make the commitment, so once they finally made it, they were all in. It could be because they had to hustle around their institution to find the professional development funds to participate and in so doing became highly motivated to make the most of the program (for themselves and their institutional sponsors). Or it could be that it took until the last minute to overcome their inner-critic's protests and in doing so, they started off in a powerful way!

Whatever the case may be, let me encourage you to pause for a minute to ask yourself: Do you want to join a community that will transform your next term into your most productive term ever?

If so, it's time to register. If not, no problem (but feel free to share this with anyone who may need it).

And if you want to see what someone just like you got out of our most recent Faculty Success Program, see Carolyn's story below. It's a better description of the program than anything I can tell you.

What Faculty are Saying About the Faculty Success Program
"The Faculty Success Program also gave me the tools and support that helped me address these issues head on."

Carolyn Palmquist
Assistant Professor
Department of Psychology
Amherst College

The Faculty Success Program was recommended to me by a colleague last fall, and I'm so glad that I took the time to register and participate this past spring. This program gave me the space to reflect on the anxiety I had about writing and the guilt I felt when I wasn't working (or thinking about work). Importantly, the FSP also gave me the tools and support that helped me address these issues head on. By the end of the semester, I felt that I really had started to gain control over my writing (I just got a manuscript accepted!) and I had learned how to make space for my life outside of work. I find that I enjoy research and writing so much more after beginning to conquer some of these demons. What a relief!
